For the past decade the legislature hasn’t had the necessary votes to enshrine women’s equality into the Minnesota Constitution. Today we can make that happen! Call your incoming representatives and ask them to support adding the ERA to the ballot. This will allow the people to vote for this Minnesota Constitutional Amendment. The more they hear from us, the higher chance we will have to make it happen!

Dear Governor Walz,
Congratulations on winning the election. There is great relief we have someone in the office who cares about the needs of all people.
I am writing to you personally to ask you to support placing an Equal Rights Amendment for the Minnesota Constitution onto the 2023 ballot.
NOW has been fighting inequitable treatment of women for 50 years and we know the fight is not over. Recent national actions show just how tenuous are the rights of women to have full autonomy over their bodies and their lives.
I hope you will help codify the right to equal treatment for all people regardless of gender into Minnesota’s Constitution by supporting an effort to get the ERA placed on the ballot. Your voice in the matter is important to women across Minnesota.I ask you to publicly announce your support of an Equal Rights Amendment in the Minnesota Constitution.

The MN NOW Constitutional Equality Committee works to add an amendment guaranteeing protections for gender equality in both our federal and state constitutions.
MN NOW’s strategy to add an ERA to Minnesota’s constitution involves developing a renewed coalition of individuals and organizations to propose and lobby for legislation that would add an ERA to Minnesota’s constitution.
The recent election results in Minnesota and across the country show that overwhelmingly voters support equal legal rights and bodily autonomy for all people. With a more diverse representation in our Minnesota Senate, House, and Governor’s office, we can see a clear path for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to be added to our state constitution.
