Minnesota NOW is a multi-issue, grassroots organization that’s been fighting for equality and justice since 1971
The rally is in direct response to the recent news reported on the front page of CNN that local School Board Chair Kelsey Waits was bullied and harassed throughout her recent bid for re-election (see https://tinyurl.com/44za7h39). These attacks went well beyond the typical criticism and scrutiny that elected officials often face. Kelsey’s youngest child, a second-grader, was outed as transgender by a local group of parents who had activated around the election.
We will not be divided by attacks against anyone’s family or anyone’s kids.
We reject division, hate, and fear-mongering and are here to show that Hastings embraces kindness, respect, and civil discourse.
Expected attendees and supporters include Hastings Progressives; RECLAIM; ACLU of Minnesota; Afton Indivisible; St. Croix Valley Indivisible; Indivisible St. Paul; MN Indivisible Alliance; Hastings THRIVE; IDEA: Inclusion, Diversity & Equality Alliance; Transforming Families; Hastings civic, business, non-profit, and faith leaders; and more.
In addition, to show support to the Waits Family you can do so by:
Writing a letter/card. The letter can be picked up by one of our members and delivered to her or send to PO Box 794 Hastings MN 55033. Please address it to IDEA HASTINGS CC Waits Family so that we can get it to them.
